Seminar on IAESTE Development (SID)

IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) UK team hosted an international conference, the annual 'Seminar on IAESTE Development', at the Kelvin Conference Centre, Glasgow in April.

Attended by 70 delegates representing IAESTE member organisations in 30 countries, the conference addressed issues internal to IAESTE policy and administration. Participants spent their time in themed work groups focusing on topics such as marketing, the development of an international alumni network, modification of the Association's statutes and by-laws, and the development of IT services to be used internationally.

The conference programme also included some social and cultural events; delegates were treated to a dinner on the Tall Ship the Glenlee on Glasgow Harbour, a trip to the Glengoyne whisky distillery and to a ceilidh in the Strathclyde University Student Union.

Feedback on the organisation of the conference has been very positive and it is hoped that this will lead to increased IAESTE exchanges involving institutions and industry in Scotland.
